Located in the heart of the 'Erzgebirge', Wolkenstein is an ideal starting point for trips to sights in the surrounding area. These can be reached for the most part by public transportation. Look-out towers and the peaks of the 'Erzgebirge' containing interesting geological clues offer magnificent panorama views.

Even during bad weather our guests can find plenty of rewarding trip destinations. A few suggestions: spas and water parks in the region are open year-round. You can visit the many museums of the 'Erzgebirge', churches, castles and palaces, as well as the historical mountain cities. Numerous mines can be visited, which will give you impressions of the formerly most important branch of industry of the 'Erzgebirge'. The planetarium in neighbouring Drebach reveals the realms of the stars and galaxies. You can visit a large model train exhibit in nearby Wiesa, district village Schönfeld, which along with the train, also replicates the 'Erzgebirge' to scale. The Game and Adventure World 'Stockhausen' in Olbernhau, gateway to toyland, will wow the kids. The neighbouring Czech Republic and the Saxon capital of Dresden can be visited as day trips.
